Student Advisor
The Student Advisor (MSB, German for mathematische studentische Studienfachberatung), currently Nina Haase (bachelor's student of mathematics), is an advisory service for current or prospective mathematics students. The advisor is themselves a student of mathematics, not a professor or other faculty.
If you are just beginning your studies, you will find answers to frequently asked questions in the FAQ. If this does not solve your problem, simply send an email to the address below.
Office hours and contact
The MSB office hours during the winter semester 2024/25 take place thursdays, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the MSB and FSR office (room 3.009, Johann von Neumann-Haus). You can also contact me at the e-mail adress:
msb (at) mathematik.hu-berlin.de
If you make an appointment by email, I can also advise you via Zoom or on the phone.
You can also address any questions to the members of the student council (FSR in German). The FSR's office is also room 3.009. Next to our office is the Fachschaftscafe JwD. There are usually a few students there who will also be happy to help you!
Other advisory services
In addition to the student advisor for mathematics, there are numerous other advisory services at the HU. You can find a list of who you should contact with which questions on the HU website. The major counseling, which is carried out by professors of mathematics, is particularly noteworthy. Details can be found here.
