The result is supposed to be a certain pattern or picture.
Trikki 4 [birthday present 2007, eBay]
Color Cubes [present, flea market]
Vier Verrückt [Christmas present 2007]
These are games of the Instant Insanity family. Other names are Verrückte 4 and Cube 4. All four colors are supposed to show up on each side.
Vier Verrückt is a puzzle I had as a child (the version on the right). Unfortunately I don't know what has become of it, this one was bought later on.
Bognar-Büvös Golyok [flea market, 0,50 €, August 2008]
The difference to Instant Insanity is that the balls are contained in a frame. Thus their position is fixed. So it's actually not a "Put-Together and Take-Apart"-puzzle. However, it belongs into the "Pattern" category.
Rubik's Tangle 1, 2 und 4 [flea market, 1 € each, fall 2007]
This is an Edge Matching Puzzle. A set consists of 25 tiles. The aim is to build a 5x5 square, connecting ropes of the same color.
This is classified as a Route-Building puzzle within the Edge Matching category by Rob Stegmann
Pound Puppies Tile Puzzle [childhood]
Snoopy Tile Puzzle [Oxfam]
Pakuwa Snake [flea market, originally sold in GDR, for free, October 2007]
Pakuwa Flowers [flea market, originally sold in GDR, 0,50 €, fall 2007]
These puzzles are solved by forming a 3x3 square (Pound Puppies; Pakuwa Flowers) resp. a big triangle out of the small triangles (Snoopy) or a hexagon (Pakuwa Snakes).
The various body parts are to connect up. The Pakuwa Flowers puzzle is different in the fact that the patterns are at the corners. Each flower needs one stem.
Such a tile puzzle can easily be made yourself in order to for example practise vocabulary or arithmetic problems at school.
Drive Ya Nuts by MB Spiele, in German: Schreckschrauben or Oh, Mutter! [flea market, present, 1,50 €, fall 2007]
Knobelschatz [flea market, 1 €, fall 2007]
Here, too, the aim is to arrange the pieces so that touching sides have the same number or color, this time in a hexagonal arrangement. Other versions of this game are called Circus Puzzler, Thinkominos and Spot Colour Puzzle.
Anakonda Tile Puzzle [Oxfam, 1 €, summer 2007]
The difference between this one and the Edge Matching Puzzles above is that this shows a completed picture.
Tantrix Discovery [Christmas present 2007]
Tantrix Discovery is meant to be an introduction to Tantrix. It consists of 10 tiles which are numbered on the back. The red 4 means you are to take the first four tiles and create a red loop. Colors of adjoining edges must match and there may not be an empty space.
Hepta by Ravensburger [eBay]
This is the puzzle that started it all. My great-grandmother gave me the puzzle Magic 7 by Arxon, which
was the plastic version of this one. Regrettably I don't know what has become of that.
There is a board of colored spots of seven different colors.
14 tiles of two different shapes are to be put onto the board so that only one color is visible in the end.
Devil's Square by Haba [flea market, 1,50 €, fall 2007]
The board ist made up of 5x5 squares. There are five colors with five pebbles each. The pebbles are to be placed in such way that no color lies twice in one row, either horizontally, vertically or diagonally.
Quadromino by Haba [exchanged, April 2008]
The nine tiles are to me arranged into a square. Points on each tile responds to those of the neigboring tiles.
Rob presents a game called Schpotz. The tiles look the same as these, but the aim is to get three points in each row, column and the main diagonals.
Magic Mirror "Cars. Trucks. Bikes" [Christmas present 2005, amazon]
Magic Mirror "Fantasy" [department store, on sale for 1,80 €]
This puzzle is difficult to describe and even more difficult to photograph.
It consists of four cubes with parts of pictures on the outside and a mirror as a diagonal. On the walls
are parts of pictures as well.
The cubes have to be placed so that a full picture is mirrored.
Each puzzle has six motifs with a different degree of difficulty.
I also own the versions "Marvel Super Heros" [department store, on sale for 1,80 €], "Sponge Bob" [flea market, 0,50 €] and "Superman" [birthday present 2007], which aren't pictured here .
