Rubik's Cube and More

  1. You can also check out (part of) my collection at Twistypuzzles, where puzzle fans from all over the world display their collections via pictures from the twistypuzzles database. There is also a forum.
  1. Of course I'm not able to solve all of those puzzles by myself. So here comes me secret to success:
This is a link to Jaap's Puzzle Page, a great homepage which displays all kinds of puzzles similar to the Rubik's Cube, including pictures and solutions as well as mathematics! It's really quite an impressing site.
  1. When trying to find an assembly, interlocking, disassembly or entanglement puzzle, I check out Rob's Puzzle Page. It helped me immensly with my second categorie.
  1. Since the solutions on Jaap's Puzzle Page are to some extent rather complicated, here a few other suggestions:
    • Uwe Meffert has a graphical solution for Skewb.
    • Matthew Monroe has a graphical solution for Square 1 resp. Cube 21.
    • Jürgen Köllers homepage Mathematische Basteleien is mostly in German but also offers some solutions or information in English. Among them is a graphical solution of the 3x3x3 Cube.
  1. Pages of other collectors or Rubik's fans, who have contacted me through my website:
    • Frederik Meysel has translated the known speedcubing method by Lars Petrus into German. It's called Solving Rubik's Cube for speed and also has instructions in English (the original), French and Italian.
    • Karol van Grymd's site of speedcubing Rubik's Cube, and poems
    • David Harley not only collects Rubik's Cubes, but also Mattel Handhelds and US Currency.
    • The magician Robinson displays his Puzzle collection in his own museum - the Puzzleum.
    • In his cubecorner Frank Tiex presents his collection and some links concerning the topic. The highlight of this page is a puzzle library, where registered users can add and edit information on available puzzles.
    • The artist Laurin (the page is in German) has designed threedimensional games such as Tak3Tik (the page is in English) entworfen.
    • Pantazis' Puzzle Paradise shows an extensive collection with recommendations on which puzzles are worth having and offers some solutions. Pantazis builds Magic Puzzles himself and gives some information on stringing.
    • Knobelspass is the collection homepage of Kerstin, another flea market collector (thankfully not in Berlin ;-))

Harry Potter

  1. For everyone who, like me, is enthusiastic about the Harry Potter books and has always wanted a list of charms and spells, of all the witches and wizards or of anything else to do with magic, who has made up all kinds of theories of what will happen in the seventh and final volume and tries to find clues for the correctness of their guesses, who has the urge to discuss their thoughts of what certein things mean with others, I have just the thing. The Leaky Cauldron is a great and extensive Harry Potter fan site with news, forums and a podcast and I really wanted to share it with you.

Special Education and Deaf Studies

  1. My State Exam Thesis can be found at hausarbeiten.de. Note that it is in German though. The thesis is called "Das hörgeschädigte Kind im Kinderbuch als Gegenstand identitätsfördernder Maßnahmen im Unterricht für Hörgeschädigte", which roughly translates into something like "The Hearing Impaired Child in Children's Books As a Means of Promoting Identity in Classes For the Hearing Impaired". The appendix shows a list of children's books, interesting links and more.
  1. My former fellow student Frank J. Müller has collected information about special education and inclusive education, albeit in German.

Student Exchange

  1. Youth for Understanding USA, Inc. (YFU) is a non-profit organisation which organizes student exchange and offers intensive orientations and care.
With YFU USA you can choose from about 35 countries to go to or from about 50 countries for the student you will host to come from. Student exchange is not a direct exchange between two families.
Student exchange also does not only mean that you will learn a different language, but rather that you will get to know a different culture - or even that you will learn to see your own culture through different eyes. Cultural understanding and international friendship are the reasons for YFU to do students exchange. Thus, hosting a student is an enrichment for the whole family.

Special Feature

  1. I proudly present my brother Ansgar, who is Trondheim, a composer of electronic music. Some of his tracks have now been released by the label Interdisco. He can also be visited at My Space.
